Accessibility Statement
Our commitment to making DriverWell accessible to everyone
Last updated: 24 March 2026
Our Commitment
DriverWell is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for all users, including people with disabilities. We strive to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, as recommended by the UK Government's accessibility requirements.
We believe that every professional driver should be able to access mental health support regardless of ability, and we continuously work to improve the accessibility of our platform.
Conformance Status
DriverWell aims to conform to WCAG 2.1 Level AA. We are actively working to achieve and maintain full conformance.
What We Do Well
Responsive Design
Works on desktop, tablet, and mobile devices of all sizes
Keyboard Navigation
All interactive elements are accessible via keyboard with visible focus indicators
Semantic HTML
Proper heading hierarchy, landmarks, and ARIA labels throughout
Touch Targets
Buttons and links meet minimum 44px touch target size for mobile users
Accessibility Features
A 'Skip to main content' link is provided at the top of every page, allowing keyboard users to bypass navigation and jump directly to the main content.
Text Alternatives
Images include descriptive alt text. Icons used for decoration are hidden from screen readers using aria-hidden.
Colour Contrast
Text and interactive elements maintain a minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1 against their backgrounds, meeting WCAG AA requirements.
Focus Indicators
All interactive elements (buttons, links, form inputs) have visible focus indicators for keyboard navigation.
Form Labels
All form inputs have associated labels. Required fields are clearly indicated.
Error Messages
Form validation errors are clearly communicated with descriptive text, not just colour.
Consistent Navigation
Navigation structure is consistent across all pages. The main menu is available on every page.
Readable Text
Body text uses a minimum size of 16px. Line height and spacing support comfortable reading.
No Auto-play
No content auto-plays. Users control all media and animations.
Progressive Web App
DriverWell can be installed as an app on mobile devices, providing a native-like experience with larger touch targets.
Known Limitations
We are aware of the following accessibility limitations and are working to address them:
Charts & Visualizations
Mood trend charts and analytics visualizations may not be fully accessible to screen reader users. We provide text-based summaries alongside charts where possible.
PDF Downloads
Some downloadable content (e.g. cab card, chat exports) may have limited accessibility. We are working to improve PDF accessibility.
Third-party Content
External links to helplines and support organisations may lead to sites with varying levels of accessibility, which is outside our control.
