DriverWell work information

Safer journeys, sites and everyday transport work.

A practical starting point for drivers, riders, warehouse teams, mechanics, cleaners, planners and anyone working around vehicles, delivery points, depots or customer sites.

Information, not an incident-reporting service or safety decision tool. Follow current site and employer procedures. In immediate danger, call 999. Do not use this page while driving or operating equipment.

Four useful prompts

No two jobs or sites are identical. These prompts support, but do not replace, risk assessment, training, supervision or local instructions.

Before a work journey

Use the current journey plan, vehicle checks and work instructions that apply to your role. If a route, delivery point or schedule creates a safety concern, raise it through the organisation's procedure before setting off where possible.

At an unfamiliar site

Look for the site induction, pedestrian routes, traffic-management rules, delivery instructions and the person responsible for receiving or directing you. Do not assume every site works the same way.

Around vehicles and loading areas

Keep to marked pedestrian routes where provided. Take local instructions seriously around reversing, coupling, loading, unloading, forklifts, vehicle movement and working at height.

When you need to stop or raise a concern

Use the agreed safety route, such as a manager, transport office, site contact, health and safety representative or trade union. You should not need to solve a work-design or safety problem alone.

If pressure is making work feel unsafe

You can pause and use the safety route available to you. This may be a manager, another manager, health and safety representative, trade union, site contact or a recognised workplace process. DriverWell does not collect a report, investigate a concern or notify an employer from this page.
