A practical upgrade to DriverWell: easier support, clearer privacy

DriverWell has made its core public support easier to reach, easier to search and clearer about privacy, while keeping individual wellbeing information out of employer reporting.

DriverWell was built to be useful in real transport work. That means support needs to be easy to find whether someone is on the road, in a yard, on a night shift, in a warehouse, in a workshop or at a desk.

We have made a practical update to the public side of DriverWell so people can reach core support more easily, without creating an account first.

What has changed

The following public DriverWell areas are now available without sign-in:

  • Everyday Support & Tools [blocked], including practical routes for wellbeing support, shift work, food, movement and private planning.
  • Emergency support [blocked], for clear urgent and crisis signposting.
  • Health Information & Support [blocked], including source-linked information on topics such as sleep apnoea and diabetes.
  • Toolbox Talks [blocked], with short conversation guides for everyday wellbeing at work.
  • Resources [blocked], which brings together practical support routes for people across transport.

We have also improved DriverWell search. When you use the public search, your search words are matched in your browser against a checked list of live public DriverWell pages. DriverWell does not receive or keep those search words.

For people who are often working in areas with poor signal, selected public reading pages can now be kept available by a supported browser after they have been visited. This is an initial offline-reading foundation, not an offline version of private tools or emergency services. Always use normal emergency routes if there is an immediate risk to life or safety.

Privacy that is easier to understand

Public support should not depend on someone feeling comfortable with being tracked. On DriverWell's anonymous public support journeys, we do not load advertising or analytics scripts and we do not record first-party page views. A new Privacy Centre [blocked] explains the difference between those public pages and optional signed-in features in straightforward language.

This update does not pretend that every part of DriverWell is anonymous. Some optional features need an account, for example where a person chooses to save private information, access learning or use an organisation service. The Privacy Centre explains those choices before a person uses them.

The employer boundary is unchanged. Employers and owners do not see individual wellbeing records. DriverWell's operator reporting is aggregate only, with minimum group sizes applied to avoid small-group disclosure. It is designed to help organisations improve the support around their people, not to monitor individuals.

Useful support, not a diagnosis

DriverWell provides practical wellbeing information, general support tools and routes to professional, urgent and emergency support where appropriate. It is not a diagnostic service, a replacement for a clinician, or a tool for making medical fitness decisions.

The health-information pages link to current official and specialist sources so that people can read more and decide whether a conversation with a GP, occupational-health professional or other suitable service would help.

What comes next

This is the first step in a wider privacy-first improvement programme. We will continue to make the public experience quicker and more useful on older devices and poor connections, while separately reviewing how optional signed-in tools handle information and privacy.

If you work in transport, please take a look at the new Everyday Support & Tools [blocked] page and tell us what would make it more useful in your working day.

If you are an operator, DriverWell can help you make practical support easier to find without turning wellbeing into surveillance. Explore the Fleet Wellbeing Suite [blocked] to understand the separate aggregate-only operator offering.
